Granby once again fully supported National Anti Bullying Month, which took place during November 2016. Anti Bullying Week ran from 14th – 18th November and to help raise the profile of this important issue a number of projects happened in school.
A whole school competition to design a badge began in the first week of term. The Student Council judged the entries from each class and found a class winner. The winning class designs were then judged separately to gain an overall winner….the lucky artist was Holly Halford Jones in Year 6! Holly’s design was made into a badge, which all pupils received at the start of the week.
On Thursday November 17th Years 5 & 6 worked with One Creative, an outside agency, who delivered a number of workshops focussing on online gaming and safety online. Valuable knowledge and information was gained by the pupils that took part and the sessions were well received by both staff and pupils.
On Friday November 18th, Tiffany Vooi and Ramsey O'Beirne of the Student Council, attended an Anti Bullying Conference at LCFC. The event was organised by Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council and the SDSA and focussed on prejudice driven bullying for primary and secondary schools. Those that attended took part in various workshops throughout the day. They will relay back all that they learnt back to the Student Council in school and use it to drive forward the Anti Bullying message at Granby.
